P.S. 115 Students Learn Special Skills On Annual Frost Valley Trip
For the third consecutive year, a group of P.S. 115 fourth graders and staff members recently visited the Frost Valley Environmental Education Center in the Catskill Mountains, north of New York City, where the trip was greeted with a foot of snow. The 6,500-acre, year-round YMCA center provides students with a distinctive program that addresses environmental education, camping, conferencing and family activities, as well as experiences outside the traditional school setting as they learn non-curriculum skills in cooperation and critical thinking - and an appreciation for the natural world around them. The school's staff, including Principal Mitch Pinsky and Parent Coordinator Jayne Scalvos, serves as chaperones and role models by demonstrating their enthusiasm and interest in the new experiences.
