Church-Going Burglars Nabbed

Burglary suspects allegedly jumped construction fence to get inside.
Police patrol officers from the 69th Precinct last Tuesday arrested two men who had allegedly broken into a church under construction on East 78th Street near Ralph Avenue.

According to precinct sources, the two men, one 23 and the other 25, had been seen by a passerby who called the 911 emergency number when they allegedly climbed over a construction fence bordering the Har-vestime Tabernacle at 509 East 78th Street at about 2 a.m. on December 10.

Police said they are currently checking to see just what might have been taken by the suspects, although it appears that most of the furnishings and other articles have not yet been moved into the premises.

Police ask that anyone who might have information on the burglary to please call (718) 257-6215. All calls will be kept confidential. Charles Rogers
