As they have done for the past 24 years, the Canarsie Lions Club, in conjunction with the combined clergy, the 69th Precinct Community Council, Public Affairs Unit and the precinct's Explorer Unit hosted the community's Annual Brotherhood Service last Monday evening.
Held at Temple Emanu-El of Canarsie, the non-denominational service was well attended by local residents and lay people, with members of the clergy giving testament to the fact that the example of brotherhood seen at this service should be a year-round feeling among everyone.
As local residents filed into the synagogue, it was obvious that everyone was "in touch" with his and her neighbor and that they came together on this special occasion to pay homage and celebrate their solidarity with their common God.
After the service the clergy and members of the community attended a social gathering with refreshments.
