What's Your Opinion?
Compiled by Bill O'Neill

Question: The union that represents most New York City policemen, the patrolmen's Benevolent Association, is challenging in the court the city's policy that requires officers to take a breathalyzer test for alcohol when they are involved in a suspect shooting. Do you agree with the city or the union? why?

"I go with the union. I can see why they don't want that. If you can't trust the officer, who can you trust? There has to be somebody to uphold the law." - Benjamin Vincent, Georgetown
"It's the city's way of keeping everybody safe. I think police officers should take the Breathalyzer test. For the safety of the community, I think it's a good idea." - Angela Reyes, Sheepshead Bay
"I think they should have a Breathalyzer test for the officers. A lot of problems nowadays are caused by drinking. And if the public gets punished for it, the police officers should be punished also." - Vincent Franco, Canarsie
"The city wants the Breathalyzer. So do I.What I see in the news recently is that police officers don't always abide by the law. So they should be treated just like everybody else." - Chantal Edwards, Mill Basin
