What's Your Opinion?
Compiled by Bill O'Neill

Question: The school principals' union wants school safety officials to contact the principal before police arrest a student. What do you think?

"I think the principal should be informed even before the police. It's proper protocol. Remember: these students are minors. The principal should be able to inform the parents what's going on." - Andre Hall, Canarsie
"It depends on how serious the crime is. If it's very serious, they should make the arrest immediately. Otherwise, they can wait for the principal and get in touch with the parents." - Donna Maglio, Canarsie
"I think yeah, because a lot of people could be arrested wrongfully. They should check things out thoroughly before making an arrest and use all of the principal's authority." - Alberto Narine, Canarsie
"If the kid did something wrong, they should arrest the kid right there - just like a regular kid on the street." - Felix Varela, Canarsie
