What's Your Opinion?
Compiled by Bill O'Neill

Question: Governor Spitzer just signed a bill that would limit the time buses or other vehicles can idle on or near school grounds to cut vehicle emissions. Do you think this will help protect the children's health and why?

"Yes, I think it protects the children. The fumes from buses are dangerous. That law means there will be less pollution around the school grounds. It'll help a little bit - won't be as many fumes." - Danny Leahy, Mill Basin
"Somewhat. It'll limit exposure to air pollution. But the air in New York is intensely polluted, anyway. That law might help a little." - Brett Berman, Williamsburg
"Actually, nowadays Isee a lot of buses using alternative types off fuel.Until all buses use alternative fuel, I guess it's a good idea to regulate emissions. Absolutely. It'll help the children." - Stephen Roach, Canarsie
"It might help the children. But what if there is an emergency - and the vehicle has to idle out in front of the school. That happened to me once. I don't think they should have that law. It interferes if something happens at the school." - Tiessa Lewis, Canarsie
