The event was publicized as a gospel festival, but it was obviously much more than that to those who attended last Friday's evening's community-wide event at the corner of Avenue L and East 92nd Street. Titled the "Youth Living For Christ Gospel Concert," sponsored by the Avenue L Merchants Association, featured singers, dancers and other entertainment from a number of local places of worship.
Master of Ceremonies Jamie Knuckles introduced a variety of artists, including those representing the following churches: Word Aflame Community Church; International House of Bread Christian Center; Center for Christian Fellowship; Liberty Hall Cathedral of Praise; Dumaris Christian Centre of Long Island and Parents United for Justice, with special musical guest Gloria E. Woods.
Mercedes Narcisse, president of the Avenue L Merchants Association, welcomed the community to the event.
