Letters to the Editor

And We Thought They Didn't

Make 'Em Like That Any More

Dear Editor:

This is a story that I thought would interest your readers.

After the heat let up last week, I decided I would do my grocery shopping at a nearby supermarket. After shopping, I had a great amount on the cashier's counter. There was a lovely, blonde lady in front of me with an even greater amount of shopping.

As she spoke with the cashier, I couldn't help overhearing her say she was a doctor. She could have been taken for a model. I turned to her and said, "They make them younger and younger."

As she was leaving, she heard me ask the cashier if I could have my groceries delivered and the cashier said she didn't know if the deliveryman could do it that day. Anyway, the good doctor turned to me and said, "I'll drive you home!"

I couldn't believe my ears, nor could the people in line behind me. I thought it was miraculous to have an offer like that coming from a stranger. She said she already had her order in her car and I should bring mine out and wait for her.

This unbelievable angel then took my wagon and, with a great deal of difficulty, lifted it into the back of her car. When we got to my home, I kept on thanking her and thanking her and wishing her good luck and happiness. I was blessed with the best parents! They told me, "Every day of your life, do something for someone to help them."

Here's a particular piece of advice to teenagers who have yet to learn what life's about. If all parents could send that knowledge on to children and grandchildren, we'd have a better world.

Anyway, from the doctor's good upbringing, I reaped the harvest.

Sincerely,

Estelle Storobinsky

Airplanes, Airplanes Everywhere!

Dear Editor:

Subject: Airplanes flying over BayView and Starrett City.

Here are the statistics: One plane flies over the area every 20 seconds; three planes every minute; 180 planes every hour; 4,320 planes in a 24-hour period.

They fly so low, you can make out what company they represent. They have been flying lower every day. Think of the destruction to life and property should they crash in this highly populated area. I have called 311 and they connected me to a local complaint area that has no one answering the phone.

Please put this in your paper.

Hans Dellbrook
