What's Your Opinion?
Compiled by Bill O'Neill

Question: According to NYPD statistics, Canarsie's 69th Precinct's crime rate is among the lowest in the city. What are your feelings about this?

"I think it's mainly because of youth programs. I was in the Explorers' program at the 69th Precinct with Officer James Johnson. There used to be a lot of crime in Canarsie. But programs and school programs helped put a stop to it." - Melody Centeno, Canarsie
"Not really. I don't think they are doing a good job. They need more cops out here when the kids get out of school. And they need more cops in front of McDonald's at all times."
"It's because the mayor's doing a good job; makes sure the police are doing their job. Give the credit to Mayor Bloomberg."
"I don't see much crime in this area, especially within the past year. If you call the police, they are there. They are reliable." - Frantz Etienne, Canarsie
