Shooter Fires, But Misses Man During Argument On E. 82nd St.
By Charles Rogers

A 36-year-old East 82nd Street resident can count his blessings after a man with a gun took some shots at him last week.

The victim, a resident of Albany Avenue in East New York whose name was not released, said he had been traveling north on the Canarsie street at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24 when he saw a man with whom he had been arguing earlier. Police said the victim told them the other man had stolen his motorcycle.

He began arguing with the man when another man standing nearby pulled out a handgun and started firing "numerous shots" at the victim, but missed him, according to cops. Several rounds struck the victim's car, however, as he sped north on East 82nd Street.

He said he didn't call police until he got a few blocks away from the gunman's location, at which time he called 911.

When police from the 69th Pre-cinct arrived, the gunman had fled and the man with whom the victim had been arguing said he didn't know who the gunman was.

Anyone with information is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
