Canarsie Lions Celebrate Golden Anniversary

Longtime Lion Dominick Marino with club President Josephine Bolus, left, and Mercedes Narcisse.
Members of the Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Club pulled out all stops last Saturday as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their benevolent organization with a huge party.

Held at the Midget Squadron Yacht Club on Paerdegat Avenue North, the event featured some of the genuine "old-timers" who had been with the Lions Club for many years, including Dominick Martino and Jim Haver, as well as Sandi Peppaceno, Marty Neidelman and Frank Seddio.

A posthumous award went to the late Cosmo Marino, which was accepted by his widow Jenny.

Assemblyman Alan Maisel, who is a Lions Club member, spoke to the assembled members and Josephine Bolus, current Canarsie Lions Club President, handled the proceedings, which also featured Governor Joyce Cochran, Vice Governor Reggie Daniels, Officials Ozzie Torres and President of the Avenue L Merchants Association Mercedes Narcisse.

Congratulations to one and all!
