Bklyn. DA's Satellite Office Here To Help Area Residents
The office began operating last month and is open Mondays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. District Attorney Charles Hynes said, in a recent interview with the Courier , the senior center is the perfect location because it is the site of an active organization within the community. District Attorney representative Colleen Marshall mans the office to assist residents with all kinds of legal services, including safety issues, housing and family court problems, in addition to discrepancies with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Marshall handles complaints by contacting her peers within the D.A.'s departments and accessing the agencies needed to resolve the problems. "The concept of offering services started with seniors and then we found that a cross spectrum of constituents needed our assistance. There is no limit to the information we provide," Hynes said. "We're proud to be able to offer immediate assistance to residents in the community instead of them coming to our Jay Street location in Downtown Brooklyn. It's easier to resolve problems now that they have access to our services within the community." According to Hynes, over one hundred residents have already taken advantage of the services. For more information about the various services available at the Brooklyn District Attorney's satellite office, call 1-718-250-2555. Charles Rogers
