Teenager Shot While Walking With Friends On East 92nd St.

A 16-year-old resident of East 91st Street was shot once in the ankle on Wednesday, June 20, as he was walking with a friend on East 92nd Street near Avenue K, police said.

A police report from the 69th Precinct said the boy is in stable condition. The youth told cops he was walking south at about 6 p.m. not far from the Church of the Rock (formerly Grace Church) when a black, late-model Maxima heading south drove past the pair and a passenger sitting in the front seat of the car began shooting at them, striking the victim in the right ankle. The Maxima then drove off, heading west on Avenue K and then south on Remsen Avenue.

Witnesses called 911 and Emergency Medical Service paramedics took the boy to Brookdale Hospital, where he was treated for his wound.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Charles Rogers
