A Spokes-Person For Reading

For the eighth consecutive year, P.S. 115 principal Mitch Pinsky (above) fulfilled a pledge to his students - and got in a little heart-healthy exercise, too. An avid bicyclist, every year Pinsky promises his students that he will bike around the school building, at East 92nd Street and Avenue M, one lap for every page they read during May, which is designated "Read A Book Month." This year Pinsky's pupils crammed in over 300,000 pages so the elementary school administrator pedaled around the building 30 times. Last Friday morning, Hector Cortijo (below middle), husband of a school staffer, and P.S. 115's Intervention Specialist Steven Lebowitz (front) joined the pedaling principal for the annual bike-a-thon.
