NYPD Negotiators Apprehend "Disturbed" Man On East 84 St.
Police from the 69th Precinct were originally called to the scene by friends and family of the man, whose name was not released, when he started arguing with them and eventually locked himself in the bathroom of the apartment. Following standard procedure, the NYPD's Emergency Service Units (SWAT teams) were called in case the man had a weapon. By about noon, after negotiators talked with him through the bathroom door, he came out unharmed. He was taken to Kings County Hospital for observation.
