Disappointed By "Parade"

I just wanted to tell you how impressed I was with your accurate coverage of the Canarsie Memorial Day "Parade."

As you reported, it wasn't much of a parade, with very few marchers, and even fewer spectators. I have lived in this community for many years and my family, my neighbors and I were very disappointed as we watched the four-minute parade.

Don't Canarsie High School and South Shore High School have marching bands that could have participated? What happened to local Boy and Girl Scout troops? Where were all the veterans who always marched? Whoever organized this "parade" really let us down this year. I also noticed very few American flags flying at area homes.

Especially now, with our troops fighting overseas, it is vitally important to show our patriotism, respect and support. I certainly hope that next year brings back the parade and patriotic displays that our community and our veterans deserve!
