After losing the season opener in late March, the Canarsie High School girls soccer team compiled an astounding 9-1-1 record, including six straight wins, to earn the Brooklyn B-VIII Division title and a spot in the upcoming PSAL playoffs scheduled to begin after Memorial Day. This is the team's first playoff appearance in at least three years.

Erica Blom, a Canarsie High School Class of 1999 alumnus and former girls soccer team captain, is in her second season as head coach.

One ingredient that made the squad successful this year is that "they believe in themselves, and that sets them apart," Blom said.

Blom also singled out her top players - freshman Anna Kay Robinson, sophomore Dannale Chambers, and junior Karina Phillip - adding, "As my team learns to play together, they will be unstoppable."
