Region 6 Schools Show Off Cultural Talents

The P.S. 206 Chorus under direction of Suzanne Delahunt.
In a series of performances geared to let the public know the diversity of the population and talent of local schools, Region 6 officials are sponsoring a number of showcases throughout the community.

The first of the events - the 2007 Region 6 Arts Festival - were presented last Monday, May 7, at the Hebrew Educational Society, where the 19 piece I.S. 278 band, under the direction of Anthony Mazzocchi performed a program of diverse music, followed by the chorus from P.S. 206, under the direction of Suzanne Delahunt.

The arts festival also featured a gallery of paintings and drawings situated throughout the HES building, highlighting yet more artistic talents of our local schools' youngsters.

A group from P.S. 233 will perform a concert at the annual Spring Lunchtime Concert at Brooklyn Borough Hall at noon on Friday, May 16 and then another the following Sunday, May 18.

Presentations will be made throughout the borough through June 15. Photos and text by Charles Rogers
