Police Release Sketch Of Rape Suspect

Police released a sketch (right) and are searching for a suspect who posed as a cop early Saturday after he picked up a 20-year-old woman at the corner of East 92nd Street and Flat-lands Avenue and raped her inside his car.

After being released from the man's car, described as a silver/gray four door sedan with two law enforce-ment decals in the window, the woman called police and told them she had been walking near the intersection at about 4:30 a.m. last Sat-urday when the man offered her a ride.

She said she got into the vehicle and he made sexual advances, which she refused.

The suspect then showed the wo-man a silver badge and what she said appeared to be a police radio. He drove her to a secluded area, reportedly near Seaview Avenue, and raped her. He then stole $160 from her purse and kicked her out of the car.

Police described the man as a male, Hispanic, 35-40 years old, about 5'8"-5"10" and 180-200 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
