Question: According to a report in the Daily News last week, Con Ed is using livery cab drivers to guard dangerous high voltage leak "hot spot" areas until the utility can fix them. Do you think this is a good idea?

"I don't think it's a good idea. Livery cab drivers are not qualified for that. That's not the purpose of their jobs. As far as safety goes, I don't think it's a good idea." - Ashley Rice, Canarsie "I guess it's a good idea. It gets the public involved in a problem that we can face at any time. It might work. A lot of livery cab drivers might be able to help out Con Ed." - Jimmy Tray, Canarsie "It's a very bad idea because the people are not experienced in high voltage areas. To work with electricity, it takes knowledge. So if they are not experienced, why should they be working for Con Ed?" - Alvin Shelton, Canarsie "I think it's a good idea. If it'll save lives, why not? Con Ed doesn't have the people to do it, obviously. Otherwise, they would have their own people do it.
