Hundreds gathered for a special legislative breakfast at Congregation B'nai Israel last Sunday as the Jewish Community Council of Canarsie honor-ed local leaders and celebrated twenty seven years of dedicated service.
"To those people in the community who need food or other assistance, getting help is a sanctification of time and every moment counts," said William Rapfogel of the Met Coun-cil, a partner organization which helps fund the JCCC. "Everyone with the JCCC reaches out to ensure those people are cared for."
As attendees enjoyed the elaborate buffet-style breakfast in the Starrett City synagogue, elected officials, including District Attorney Charles Hynes; City Councilmen Kendall Stewart, David Weprin and Lew Fidler; Congressman Ed Towns; and State Assemblyman Alan Maisel gave their congratulatory sentiments. State Senator John Sampson offered his congratulations as he received the Distinguished Legislator Award.
