 | | QUESTION: Mayor Bloomberg has suggested that mail carriers, with proper authorization, may check on senior citizens or the disabled if they see something unusual at the person's residence, like too much mail building up in the mailbox and going uncollected. What do you think?

|
 | | "Yeah, it's a good idea. Keep people safer. Better to be safe than sorry. I'm a disabled person. It's good to have the added safety of someone checking on you."
- Jose Lay, Canarsie

 | | "I think they should. Absolutely. For the safety of the senior citizens, God forbid something happens to them, the family will know instead of them being by themselves."
- Christina Baldwin, Canarsie

|
 | | Actually, no - how will they know if someone is a senior citizen or disabled? If they are that old where they can't take care of themselves, they should have a nurse or home attendant. I don't think it's a mail carrier's responsibility to care for them."
- Francisco Velez, Canarsie

 | | "It's a good idea. Bloomberg is doing things for the public. Some of the elderly can't take care of themselves when it gets very hot or sometimes very cold outside. They could be in danger."
- Jose Castillo, Canarsie
