Two armed men held up a travel agency on Rockaway Parkway last Thursday, herding three employees into a back room and escaping with more than $4,000, police said.

According to detectives from the 69th Precinct, the robbery took place at about 6:30 p.m. on March 8 when the pair entered the store, located at 1586 Rockaway Parkway. They an-nounced it was a holdup and told all three employees to go into the back room of the store and then told them to "lie down with your faces on the floor!" They removed approximately $4,000 in cash from the back office and then proceeded to rifle the desk drawers in the front office, taking an undetermined amount of cash and telephone calling cards, police said. The thieves then fled in an unknown direction through a back door.

Witnesses described the robbers as both male blacks. One is about 38 years old, six-feet, two inches tall and weighs about 240 lbs. He was wearing a black leather jacket and black gloves. The other man is about five-feet, seven inches tall and weighs about 160 lbs. He was wearing a black hoodie and a blue jacket.

The store is located next to the Canarsie Library where dozens of youngsters would normally have been doing their homework Thursday except that the library was closed for renovations.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
