Blood Clue DNA Tracks Suspect In July Burglary
By Charles Rogers

Like a scene from a television drama, police forensic experts used their technical expertise last week to match DNA from blood found at the scene of a July robbery in the 63rd Precinct and picked up a suspect in the case.

According to police sources, the burglary took place at a Chinese restaurant on Ralph Avenue near Avenue L overnight between July 15 and 16 last year. In breaking a window to gain entrance to the restaurant, the suspect apparently cut himself, but proceeded with the robbery and stole some cash and a cell phone before escaping.

Crime Scene Unit officials, however, checked blood found on a calendar in the restaurant and matched the DNA with that of the suspect.

They charged him with burglary, criminal mischief and petit larceny.
