Three-Time Grammy® Nominee Jewel Sparkles On PBS' "Soundstage"
Among the Alaskan native's many accolades are three Grammy Award nominations, an American Music Award and an MTV Video Music Award. Jewel is currently the host of Nashville Star, which is in it's fifth season. In 1999 she was presented the prestigious Governor's Award from the Los Angeles chapter of the Recording Academy, which recognizes those "whose creative talents and accomplishments have crossed all musical boundaries and have been recognized as an asset to our music community." The "Soundstage: season, which will run through March 1, includes upcoming performances by singer/ songwriter Rickie Lee Jones (February 22), and 2007 Grammy nominees, Mark Knopfler and Emmy-lou Harris (March 1).
After an impressive run from 1974-1985, "Sound-stage," the music performance program, whose hour-long format was unique to television, was re-cently reintroduced by Joe Thomas. HD Ready specializes in combining high-definition television and cutting-edge surround sound. Thomas' concept was to combine the singular musical performances of the original show with an ultra modern stage boasting innovative 5.1 audio and hi-def visual technologies. Over the years, the innovative and prestigious program achieved widespread critical acclaim and featured the artists that defined the era, including Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, the Doobie Brothers, Harry Chapin, Dionne War-wick, the Temptations, and Kenny Loggins, among others.
