Suspect Caught After BB-Gun Car Rampage Officials from the 69th Precinct Detective Squad arrested a 40-year-old Ralph Avenue resident last week after he allegedly went on a rampage and shot out the windshields of at least nine vehicles with a BB-gun on January 20 - between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Detectives said Anthony Esposito, who owns an auto body shop at 1450 Ralph Avenue, allegedly targeted cars parked along quiet, residential neighborhoods at East 80th Street and Far-ragut Road, then proceeded to target cars between Farragut Road and Foster Avenue. Heading south in the general Red-wood district streets, police said Esposito shot lights and windows out of cars on East 87th Street, then down to East 85th Street near Glenwood Road, and then over to East 88th Street. Police said he continued south and east, eventually - and finally - hitting cars parked near East 91st Street and Seaview Avenue. When police were called, the car owners were mystified as to who was responsible, suggesting that, perhaps, a youth might have done it. However, Esposito was arrested on January 27, a week after the shootings took place. Detectives said he did not confess, but noted his auto body shop is the only one in the area that is open on a Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call the local precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
