Penny-Pinching Pays Off

Public School 115's Penny Patrol was justly rewarded for it's hard work during last month's Penny Harvest collection, under the capable and enthusiastic guidance of teacher Abby Fuchs, in which they collected about $2,000 worth of pennies that weighed over one ton. Common Cents, the organization that oversees the citywide school fundraisings, awarded the East 92nd Street elementary school a $1,000 Philanthropy Roundtable award, which gives students the opportunity to use it in the community to address issues that matter to them. Principal Mitch Pinsky told the Courier the Penny Harvest award will be used in a service project to be determined by the students.
