Special Events At Prospect Park For MLK Weekend Prospect Park Celebrates the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend with special free programs for the whole family. Learn about Freedom Quilts and how to make them at the Lefferts Historic House. Experience the Park's natural environment with guided tours and hands-on nature crafts at the Prospect Park Audubon Center. Plus, there are extended hours for ice skating at the Wollman Rink. Freedom Quilts Learn how, during the slavery era, enslaved Africans and supporters of the Underground Railroad used the patterns and symbols in quilts to create maps that led to freedom. At the Lefferts Historic House there will be special readings from the book "Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt" and quilting workshops. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 1-3 p.m. Lefferts is open noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. All programs are Free. Crafts and Nature Tours Children can create toys, puppets, and more with natural materials at the Prospect Park Audubon Center. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 1-3 p.m. The Audubon Center is also the departure point for guided Discovery Tours that explore the park's scenic landscape on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 3 - 4 p.m. The Center is open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from noon-4 p.m. Extended hours at the Wollman Skating Rink: +Saturday: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 - 6 p.m., 7 - 10 p.m. +Sunday: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 - 6 p.m. +Monday: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 - 6 p.m. The entrance fee to the rink is $5 for adults, $3 for children (14 and under) and seniors.
