Local Schools Scare Up Halloween Parades
Dressed up as characters from some their favorite books, students and staff at public schools 114 and 115 celebrated their love for reading as they celebrated Halloween last week. Each school had its own procession with a P.S. 114 "Book-O-Ween" march at the Remsen Avenue elementary school and the annual character parade, dubbed a "Wonder Walk," at P.S. 115 on East 92nd Street. Cops Corral Gunslingers At Neighborhood Saloon
It could have been a scene from a "B" movie Western last weekend, as two men wrestled on the floor of a neighborhood saloon, trying vainly to get hold of a gun that had fallen there while they fought. Bullet Travels Through Legs Of East 93 St. Shooting Victim
A 24-year-old resident of East 93rd Street was taken to the hospital on Wednesday, October 31 after having been shot in both legs - with a single bullet - by an unknown assailant while walking near East 93rd Street and Avenue N, police said. Full Story
Most Dist. 18 Schools Make The Grade In 1st Progress Reports
Twenty nine percent of District 18 schools received a grade of A in the Department of Education's first-ever Progress Reports released this week. Of the seventeen District 18 schools in Canarsie and parts of East Flatbush evaluated, all but three received a grade of C or better, with one school rated D and two others F. Full Story
