Breukelen Houses Holds Its Own Summer Festival

The beautiful weather certainly did its part Saturday as tenants from the Breukelen Houses complex got together for a good, old fashioned lawn party.

"We've got a perfect day here for us to show our pride and our togetherness," said Tony Barnes, president of the Breukelen Tenants Association, one of the sponsors of the event.

Held in the center of the complex - Glenwood Road and East 105th Street - the festival featured everything from barbecues to snow cones to face painting and dancing.

Other sponsors included the NYPD Housing Bureau Community Affairs Unit and Millennium Development.

Barnes said there were "plenty of burgers to go around" and plenty of music and dancing to delight the crowd.

"It looked like everybody had a good time," he said.
