"Golden City" Highlighted At Canarsie History Fair
      The 100th anniversary of Golden City Amusement Park, once a special highlight of visitations to Canarsie's Jamaica Bay shore, was commemorated last weekend during a History Fair sponsored by the Canarsie History Museum. Held in Holy Family School on Sunday, July 15, the fair featured numerous photos from the Canarsie Historical Society that had been collected through the years.

Gateway Officials Mull Overnight Pier Closure To Vehicles

      In an effort to thwart littering at the Canarsie Pier parking lot, Gateway officials announced at a Tuesday meeting they are considering closing the park to vehicles at night. The meeting at Floyd Bennett Field focused on when the closure hours will be implemented.
