What’s Your Opinion?
Compiled by Bill O’Neill

Question: Who do you think should ultimately pay the costs for manpower and equipment accumulated for searches like the one that took place for the missing mountain climbers in oregon - local and state governments or the families of the victims? Why?

“Local and state governments. It’s their property. So they should be the ones to pay for any damages on that property. If the person gets hurt, they should pay for searches on their property.” –Patricia Frager, Canarsie
“State government. They are responsible for people who use their recreational facilities. If you go to a city park and get hurt, the city has to pay. So in the areas run by the state, the state should pay for the searches.” –Tony Cincotta, Canarsie
“The state should pay because everybody -unless you’re rich – doesn’t have enough money to pay for a search.” –Noelle Andreassi, Canarsie
“The family should pay for the searches. It’s your decision to go out there. It’s your own free will. So you have the responsibility to pay for any problems that arise.” –Nadia Andreassi, Canarsie
