Officials of the 69th Precinct Detective Squad are investigating the shooting of an East 85th Street resident last Thursday. The victim, whose name was not divulged, sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm and to the chest.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on December 14 when the victim, with his wife in the front passenger seat was pulling his car into the driveway of his home. Witnesses said a “large” black man calmly walked up to the driver’s side and pegged off two shots at the driver. Luckily, one bullet passed through the victim’s arm and lodged in his chest, apparently not striking any crucial areas. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital by Emergency Medical Service paramedic and pronounced in stable condition.

Police canvassed the area, knocking on doors and questioning passersby and neighbors about the incident with negative results. One resident was said to have seen a man who looked to be about 300 lbs. running from the scene, but that report could not be confirmed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the local detective squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
