Police from the 63rd Precinct re-sponded to a radio call that shots had been fired at the popular Gil Hodges Bowling Lanes on Strickland Avenue in Mill Basin at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, December 17 to find a dead body in the parking lot, police said.

According to Detective Joseph Cavitolo, a spokesman for the NYPD, Cordero McBean, 20, of East 57th Street in East Flatbush was the victim. Witnesses who were interviewed by local detectives said McBean had been in an argument with “at least two” other men.

The argument spread out onto the parking lot and one of the two men pulled out a gun and fired twice, striking McBean fatally with one of the bullets. The attackers then fled. in an unknown direction. Police canvassed the area and talked with witnesses.

One witness, who asked that her name not be mentioned, said the bowl-ing alley is “normally a nice place to sit and have a drink and enjoy bowling. There usually isn’t any trouble there.”

McBean was tended to by members of the Flatlands Volunteer Am-bulance Corps and was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pro-nounced dead.

Anyone with information is asked to call the 63rd Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 250-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
