Volunteers Needed To Restore Vintage Aircraft

Officials at the Gateway National Recreation Area at Floyd Bennett Field are interested in adding new members to the volunteer project that works to restore vintage military aircraft.

The Historic Restoration Project (HARP) has worked for the past decade to restore a variety of aircraft, including a C-47, a P2V Neptune, a PBY Catalina, an A-4 Skyhawk and others.

The volunteers who work on these aircraft bring a variety of skills to the project. Some were aircraft mechanics in the military or civilian aviation fields; others are skilled mechanics, machinists, metal workers and carpenters.

For information, call (718) 338-3799.
