Impatient Thieves Get Away With $ And The Cash Drawer Two thieves stole a drawer full of cash and coins from the cash register in a Chinese restaurant in the East 107th Street shopping center Saturday night and got away with an undetermined amount of money, police said. The armed robbery took place at the Peking Chef at 925 East 107th Street at about 11 p.m., which is close to closing time, according to witnesses. Police sources said the pair of bandits, wearing ski masks, entered the empty restaurant and both immediately displayed silver handguns, pointing them at two employees who were cleaning up. The bandits announced the holdup and told one of the workers to “go over to the cash register and give me all the money!” It seems the restaurant employee wasn’t fast enough, however, and the impatient thief pushed the worker aside and grabbed the cash register drawer, pulling it completely out of the register. Both men then ran out the door, taking the cash, throwing the drawer away and running toward the Breukelen Houses complex across the street. Police said no one was injured during the incident. Both suspects were described as black. One, about 20 years old, five-feet, nine-inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds, was wearing a black hoodie and black jacket, plus the black ski mask. There was no other description of the other man except that he was wearing a gray hoodie, as well as the black ski mask. Police are pursuing any connections to previous robberies where the mode of operation of the thief or thieves might be the same Anyone with information is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
