Decking The Halls At River Manor

In the lobby of River Manor, participants, including nurses, aides and residents themselves, greeted the judges with a brief narrative and, of course, holiday carols. Photos by Bennett Silverman
Every year, the staff and residents of River Manor Care Center at 611 East 103rd Street gather their resources and ingenuity and hold a contest to see which of the center’s seven floors can decorate the halls and lobby the best and brightest. This year was no exception, as administrators, nurses and residents literally “decked the halls with boughs of holly” and went all-out to brighten everyone’s day with festive, inventive decorations. As for the winner of the contest? Well, the diplomatic thing to say is that they were ALL

winners, but, when all is said and done, First Place went to the 2nd floor; Second Place was a tie between the 1st and 7th floors; and Third Place went to the 4th floor. Congratulations to all!

The 4th Floor lobby featured a teepee design...
...While Santa himself graced the 3rd floor.
The 2nd floor (winners) featured a “Lion King” motif.
Polar bears and penguins greeted 7th floor visitors.
