'Spirit Of The Holidays' Meets Spirit Of The Tang' In Chinese Spectacular

New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV), the producers of the Chinese New Year Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall next February, present an all-new show for the holiday season, Holiday Wonders, at the Beacon Theatre, December 19-24, a colorful and uplifting fare to put a smile on everyone's face.

NTDTV is known for stunning shows featuring truly authentic Chinese traditional performing arts that are an entirely new experience for most of us here in America. Their programs in-clude a variety of dance, vocal, and instrumental performances that each stand on their own but also come together like a satisfying eight course Chinese banquet. As NTDTV President Zhong Lee says: "There really is something for everyone! It's like the spirit of the holi- days meets the spirit of the Tang Dynasty."

Some of the richest performances are in the form of "dance dramas" that depict the stuff of Chinese legends, complete with fairy maidens, brave warriors, and loyal souls. Past dance dramas include "When the Lion's Eyes Turn Red," the story of how a village was saved because of one woman's compassion, and even a retelling of the story of Mulan. They tell a story of a time and place when virtue, honor, and human kindness really mattered - a gentle reminder of what the holidays are really about.

"Holiday Wonders" would not be a true holiday show, however, without elements from the Western tradition. The producers have blended in scenic elements and world-class musical en-sembles throughout the program that present well-loved pieces sure to put anyone in the holiday mood and accompaniment by a live orchestra.

The show is a refreshing addition to the city's seasonal offerings and just the ticket for those who have the urge to try something new this holiday season. It transports the audience to a different time and place, leaving viewers richer for the experience.

Lee says, "You and your family will leave the theater with a warm, happy glow. What better gift to give for the holidays?"
