Annual New York Cares Coat Drive Kicks Off Next Week Starting December 1, all New Yorkers are encouraged to support the 18th Annual New York Cares Coat Drive, sponsored by Health Plus. Each year, the New York Cares Coat Drive collects over 70,000 coats that are donated to people in need throughout the city. Since the Coat Drive began in 1989, caring New Yorkers have donated over 1 million coats to help keep New Yorkers in need warm throughout the cold winter months. New Yorkers can donate new or gently used adults' and children's coats throughout the month of December at Coat Drive collection sites throughout the five boroughs. Donated coats are distributed to over 300 New York homeless shelters, agencies serving seniors, and community organizations supporting people in need throughout the city. Caring people from around the tri-state area can donate coats starting Friday, December 1st: +Anytime at all New York City Police Precincts Weekdays 7:30 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. at: +Grand Central Terminal (Graybar Passage) +New York Penn Station (LIRR and NJ Transit/Amtrak concourses) +New York Port Authority Bus Terminal (Main concourse, 42nd St. entrance). Additional drop-off locations can be found online at www.nycares.org 98.7 Kiss FM will hold its 4th annual "Kiss Kids Coat Drive" radio marathon on December 1st at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, 405 West 55th Street. New Yorkers can drop off new, clean, or gently used winter coats and make donations from 6:00am until 12:00 midnight during this one-day event. Two special game-day collections will take place during NFL games at Giants Stadium. Fans can bring coats to the game and donate them in designated collection sites at the stadium. +The New York Giants will hold a collection on December 3rd during the New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys game. +The New York Jets will collect coats from their fans on December 31st at the New York Jets vs. Oakland Raiders game.
