Brotherhood Night Sets Tone For Holiday Season

In an interdenominational service Monday at the Hebrew Educational Society, diverse religious faiths in Canarsie came together to signify the togetherness of the community.

For more than two decades, Can-arsiens have named the Monday eve-ning before Thanksgiving "Brother-hood Night," with members of the clergy, of all faiths, meeting with congregants and vowing to continue the tradition.

The event was hosted by the Can-arsie Lions Club in conjunction with the 69th Precinct Community Council, Explorers Unit and Public Affairs Unit.

Homilies and prayers recited by clergy and distingiuished community members, as well as hymns sung by the BayView Houses Choir and the congregants, all referred to giving thanks for what we have and wishes for peace in the future.
