Letters To The Editor Catherine Rosa: I received the Canarsie Courier and wanted to thank you on behalf of the Health and Hospitals Corporation for your support. I showed the ad to our Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications and she says that the ads look very good. Thanks again for getting the word out to your readers about our Take Care New York campaign. Carolyn Dunn Sr. Director, Marketing, NYC Health & Hospitals Corp.
Editor's note: Catherine Rosa is the Courier's business manager. Unnecessary Civics Lesson Editor: I want to take Charles Rogers to task for his elementary civics lesson in your November 2 issue. Needless to say, it was condescending and unenlightening. He must think those who read his column are too ignorant to understand the essentials of American government. Why else would he waste so much space explaining how congressional terms work instead of offering his "View From the Middle"? I've lived in the United States nearly 20 years, since I came from Trinidad-Tobago with my family. Within five years I knew how democracy worked, how legislators are elected and now teach high school students what I know. Malcolm Ferguson
Remembering Our Veterans Dear Editor: This letter is to all the Vet-erans of Canarsie who never re-membered Veterans Day, Nov-ember 11 at 11 AM to come to the Traffic Circle of the Belt Parkway to honor our fallen veterans. This is the second year that only three people were there: Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #59 Commander John Salogub, Mary Salogub and Sonia Salo-gub. We placed a wreath, said a prayer and read the names of our veterans. We waited until 11:15 AM, thinking one of the men from American Legion Post 573 remembered and said "Maybe we will see someone. If not, we will say our own prayer." But that didn't happen. How sad for all the veterans who gave their lives for us, especially the 3,000 men and women we lost in this so-called Iraq war. Here is a thought for you veterans for the future: Next Nov-ember 11 at the 11th hour, when a wreath is placed, a prayer is read and names called out, will they remember your name or will you be forgotten?
Sincerely Mary Salogub
