Livery Driver Robbed At Knifepoint On East 105th Street Three men who took a short ride from the Rockaway Parkway subway station to East 106th Street between Flatlands Avenue and Avenue J in a livery cab last Thursday evening turned out to be armed robbers, stealing cash and a cell phone from the cab driver. Except for being shaken by the incident, the driver was not injured. Officials from the 69th Precinct Detective Squad said the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. when, as the cab approached Avenue J, one of the passengers in the back seat put a knife to the throat of the driver and said, "Just give me all your money." A second man told the driver to pull over to the side of the road and then got into the front seat with him. He searched the victim's pockets and, reaching into his shirt pocket, pulled out an undetermined amount of cash. All three men then got out of the car and began to run west on East 106th Street. However, as one of the men ran, he turned around to see the driver of the livery car dialing what he presumed was 911 on his cell phone. The man ran back to the car and ripped the cell phone out of the driver's hands, throwing it to the ground. Then he ran away. Police arrived a short time later, having been called by neighborhood residents who heard the commotion. The police canvassed the area without finding the cell phone. The suspects are described as black and in their early 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call local detectives at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential. Charles Rogers
