Conservatory Invites Students To Audition For Scholarships
The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will offer nine full scholarships for studies in the Conservatory's Cer-tificate Preparatory Program as the result of a grant from the Van Lier Fellowship Fund.
The Preparatory Program is geared towards middle school and high school-aged students who are interested in a comprehensive classical or jazz music education. The scholarships will be open by audition to community members and Conservatory students aged 9-15. Candidates may perform on any instrument or voice in Classical or Jazz forms. Applicants will be asked to perform two contrasting solo pieces and should be prepared to play scales or other technical work.
Audition dates in Brooklyn are Tuesday, December 12, 6-8 p.m.; Friday, December 15, 6-9 p.m.; and Sunday, December 17, 4-6 p.m. Audi-tions must be scheduled by December 1 . Call 718-622-3300 to schedule an audition.
The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, a division of Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music, is one of the oldest and largest nonprofit community schools of the arts in the nation.
