One passerby, who said he was at the scene when the shooting started, said the two men were apparently en-gaged in a dispute at the corner of Croton Loop and Pennsylvania Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. when shots rang out. One of the men yelled he had been shot in the face, according to the witness, who refused to give his name.

Another witness said she heard the shots and, with some other people pass-ing by on the crowded street, stopped and ducked. The woman said she saw one of the men running east across Pennsylvania Avenue

Police would not divulge whether the men shot each other or they were injured by someone else, perhaps some-one shooting from a passing car.

A law enforcement officer from Spring Creek Security, who said he was among the first on the scene, told the Canarsie Courier both victims were taken to Brookdale Hospital.

One man was handcuffed at the scene and taken to the 75th Precinct station house, but police would not reveal whether he had anything to do with the shooting.

Police did not reveal anything further on the case. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential. Charles Rogers
