DONUT SHOP ROBBED AGAIN
The Dunkin' Donuts store at 1547 Ralph Avenue was robbed at knife- point Tuesday in broad daylight, police said. This was the second time in two weeks that the store, located in the new Lo Min Plaza Shopping Cen-ter between East 77th and East 78th streets, had been robbed.
Officials from the 69th Precinct Detective Squad said the robbery occurred at about 2:15 p.m. when the lone robber walked into the store, proceeded to jump over the counter, and announced the holdup.
One of the employees tried to stop him and he pulled out a knife and threatened the employee with it, al-though the worker was not hurt. There were no customers in the store at the time.
The thief then proceeded to pull the center drawer completely out of the cash register and took all the cash. He climbed back over the counter and fled across the street toward the Glenwood Houses project area, police said.
Witnesses described the robber as a male black wearing blue jeans, gray boots and a dark "hoody."
Police sources said a similar robbery took place in the store about two weeks ago, although they did not say whether it was the same type of robbery or whether a knife was used.
Anyone who might have seen the robbery or who has any information on the case is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
