Letters To The Editor
All of us at the Police Athletic League would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful article entitled "PAL Offers Kids Summer Fun In Canarsie Park" in the July 20 issue of the Canarsie Courier. With summer in full swing, it is extremely important to communicate the wide range of PAL programs that are available to New York City children to enjoy fun and safe places to play and learn.
PAL's Summer Playstreet Program closes off a portion of Canarsie Park for full days of safe, supervised recreational, cultural and educational activities throughout the summer. This is just one of 130 PAL playsite locations throughout the five boroughs where youngsters can play traditional sidewalk games and enjoy music and dance. Children also develop their creativity through arts and crafts, engage in summer reading and make new friends.
In addition to the Playstreet Program, PAL's Summer Programs include 13-day camps, sports locations and child care programs. Summer Programs benefit thousands of New York City children each summer. They are a source of support, development and inspiration.
New York City youngsters need to know that there are many programs to keep them out of trouble and enjoying summer fun and learning. Thank you again for spreading the word about PAL.
