A 6-month-old girl who was sleeping in a stroller in the front room of her BayView Houses apartment on East 102nd Street was grazed in the head as three bullets came blasting through the apartment's front door early last Thursday, police said.

The baby, Zatrina Ramsey, was taken to Brookdale Hospital and later pronounced in stable condition by emergency room physicians.

Because of the oppressive heat, Zatrina's mother, Beatrice, 31, thought it might be better if the baby slept in her stroller in the living room instead a of warmer bedroom, while she and Zatrina's 2-year-old sister slept on the couch. Her husband and 5-year-old brother stayed in the bedroom.

At about 3:15 a.m., the family was awakened by the sounds of gunshots outside the apartment door. When Ramsey went to comfort the cryingbaby, she felt blood coming from her head.

Emergency units were already on their way to the site, according to police sources, because neighbors had called 911 when they heard the shots. The baby was immediately taken to the hospital after they arrived.

It was reported that the family has no record of involvement with criminal activity.

This week police said they have no leads and presumed the bullets were not purposely aimed at the Ramsey's door.
