Baseball Fans Tie The Knot On KeySpan Park Diamond

Art-istic Images Brooklyn Cyclones baseball fans, Dave Kerpen, 29, of Brooklyn, married Caroline Fisher, 29 of Queens, in a unique "Our Field of Dreams"-sponsored sports promotion on July 8th, in front of 500 friends, family members and 7,500 fans at Key Span Park in Coney Island.
The couple was wed under a traditional Jewish Chuppah by a rabbi at home plate following the Cyclones game that evening. The first 2,500 fans received "Dave & Carrie" bobblehead dolls to commemorate the occasion.
The couple met with Steve Cohen, General Manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, last October 2005 to discuss their idea.
Cohen said, "The Brooklyn Cyclones are the perfect hosts for this creative event."
The wedding celebration kicked off when bridesmaid and best friend Dale Sudakoff sang the National Anthem. After the father of the bride and the groom's mother threw out the first pitch, the Cyclones faced the Stage College Spikes and lost 3-0.
During the game, fans were treated to several wedding-themed promotions in-between innings. Wedding guests enjoyed hot dogs and traditional ballpark fare, instead of a more typical wedding meal. The real fun began after the game, when nine groomsmen-the Brooklyn Kings - and nine bridesmaids-the Queens Queens - lined up at home plate, and the couple entered the field from opposite dugouts.
The couple promised to donate 10 percent of all monetary gifts and sponsor funds to the David Wright Foundation to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis treatment and research. They chose this charity because of their close personal ties with MS and because they are die-hard New York Mets fans.
The idea to be married on a baseball field came to Dave and Carrie over lunch, months before they were even engaged. Both baseball fans, Dave is a public school math teacher and marketing consultant and Carrie is the local sales manager for WBLI 106.1 in Long Island. With their extensive background in sales and marketing, the couple sought to partner with a baseball team and other key sponsors in order to create the wedding of their dreams, one which would allow them to invite everyone they have ever known.
