Youth Shot While Showing Off Gun; Four Arrested

Four Canarsie youths were ar-rested on gun charges last week when, while showing off a handgun, one of them was shot in the leg, police said.

According to a report filed at the 69th Precinct, the shooting took place at an apartment in the Breu-kelen Houses complex shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11 when the victim, Ryan Greaves, 20, along with his brother, Mark, 18, was visit-ing with two friends, Oshay Wierrel, 16, and Edmond Hines, 18 in an apartment on East 108th Street.

While passing the gun around, it went off accidentally, police said, wounding Ryan in the right calf. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital for treatment. Then victim, along with the other three youths, was charged with assault, endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

The gun was later found in the courtyard behind 718 East 108th Street, police said.
