COPS I.D. SUSPECT IN MAY SHOOTING
Police from the 69th Precinct have identified a suspect in the shooting of four youths during a street melee on Flatlands Avenue last May.
Detectives said Deion Davis, 24, allegedly fired into a crowd of youths who had been in a fight at a party in the Breukelen Houses complex shortly after 9 p.m. on May 5.
Patrol officers were called to the area of East 105th Street and Flat-lands Avenue when witnesses called to say there was a "large gang" of young people fighting near the intersection. As they continued to fight, some of the group - most of them teenagers - ran towards East 100th Street and stopped as a full melee broke out. During the fight, Davis allegedly pulled out a handgun and started firing into the crowd, wounding four youths.
One was shot in the left ankle, an-other in the back, another in the leg and another in the abdomen. All four were taken to area hospitals, treated and released. None of the wounds was termed life-threatening.
When the shooting started, Davis apparently ran in an unknown direction as the crowd disbursed, leaving the wounded youths writhing on the ground. The suspect has not been seen since.
Anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of Deion Davis is asked to call the 69th Pre-cinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
